About
Brant has served since June 2017 as Cornerstone Fund director and development officer.
A 1993 Ouachita graduate in history and political science with teaching and coaching
certifications in grades 7-12, Brant was a member of Beta Beta men's social club,
Blue Key honor society and a sound technician for Praise Singers and campus events
like Tiger Tunes. After graduation, Brant was an adviser for the Ouachita TRIO programs and most recently
was a teacher and the head baseball coach for the Arkadelphia School District.
Brant and his wife, Karen, a 1992 Ouachita graduate who is director of Student Financial
Services, have two sons, both Ouachita alums and former Tiger starting pitchers who
live and work in Little Rock. John Franklin, a 2018 accounting/finance graduate, is
married to Shelby, also a 2018 Ouachita grad in speech and communication disorders;
Brandon, a 2020 finance graduate, is married to Emma, a 2019 Ouachita graduate in
accounting.
Fun Facts
What do you like most about your field?
My role is to raise annual funds to support the mission of Ouachita, money that supports
student scholarships, academic programs and spirtual activities. Without the generosity
of Ouachita graduates and friends, students would be burdened by greater cost, professors
would have to limit the extraordinary programs they lead, and we would have to limit
the spirirtual support and outreach that students recieve each year. It's a great
honor and challenge to engage people to give of their resourses to support the important
work that Ouachita does each year.
What is your favorite place on campus and why?
Berry Chapel is my favorite place on campus for many reasons. Personally it is where
my wife Karen and I were married, where our oldest son John Franklin propsed to his
wife, Shelby, and where our youngest son Brandon married his wife Emma. In the bigger
context, it is the representation of how Ouachita seeks to be Christ-centered in all
we do. At the center of campus, it is a place of worship where students lead Bible
studies, pray, share the Gospel and join together in marriage. It is most definitely
a place that has deep meaning for me and my family, as well as thousands of others.
