Ouachita plans 125th annual spring commencement for May 12
May 7, 2012Ouachita Baptist University will hold its 125th annual spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 12, at 9:30 a.m. on the front lawn of the university’s historic Cone-Bottoms Hall. The ceremony will honor 318 graduates with a total of 325 degrees, including Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Education degrees. (more…)
Ouachita SIFE team wins regional competition, heads to nationals
May 7, 2012Ouachita Baptist University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team was recently named regional co-champions at the SIFE Regional Competition in Dallas, Texas. Elrod Center Community Service Awards honor community leaders and students
May 4, 2012Ouachita Baptist University’s Elrod Center for Family and Community honored Dr. Cecil Sutley with the Community Service Excellence Award and Gracie Wright with the OBU Foster Grandparent of the Year Award at its recent University Community Service Awards banquet. Jody Persson earns Children’s Literature Association’s Carol Gay Award
April 30, 2012Ouachita Baptist University student Jody Persson has been awarded the 2012 Carol Gay Award for her essay “Take It to the Porch: Meeting the Other in To Kill a Mockingbird.”
The Carol Gay Award, sponsored by the Children’s Literature Association, recognizes outstanding undergraduate research papers in children’s literature. Nominations for the award are submitted by university faculty around the nation. (more…)
